Mercy Ships

I am once again pleased to announce that I have accepted an offer to be a volunteer crew member with Mercy Ships. From November 2024 to June 2025, I served on the Global Mercy in Sierra Leone. I have been asked to serve again on the Global Mercy. I am committed to be on the Global Mercy, in Sierra Leone, from November 30, 2025 until April 12, 2026.

For more than 40 years, Mercy Ships has been providing hope and healing around the world.

Mercy Ships has focused our attention on providing surgery as well as strengthening the healthcare infrastructure in the nations we serve. Thanks to the faithful support of friends and partners, children and families suffering from painful, disfiguring, and often-preventable diseases have been able to find the healing they so desperately needed.

Mercy Ships 2024 Year Review

In 2024, Mercy Ships continued its mission of providing free surgical care and building capacity in local healthcare systems across sub Sharan Africa. The organization performed over 2,280 surgeries and more than 3,690 surgical procedures, with dental teams providing care to over 2,040 patients and training more than 250 healthcare professionals. The Global Mercy and the Africa Mercy ships were operation simultaneously, allowing us to expand our reach and impact. The Global Mercy spent 2024 in Sierra Leone and the Africa Mercy in Madagascar. We also strengthened local healthcare systems through partnerships with Guinea’s dental school and the Safer Surgery Program in Sierra Leone. Mercy Ships’ efforts were supported by over 1,700 international volunteers and more than 670 local day crew members.

Despite our impact, many more children and families are waiting. We believe that, together with the nations we serve, we have the potential to make a difference in the lives of thousands in the immediate future and for decades to come.
